Packing for traveling overseas can be quite the challenge…

BUT these few packing tips will help you next time you’re preparing for your big trip!

Over the past couple weeks I’ve been getting ready for a 3 week trip to Asia! This is the longest trip I’ve ever had to pack for and the luggage requirements and restrictions make it even more challenging to pack…

With that being said, my first tip is

1. Check with your airline to see the luggage weight and size restrictions.

This packing tip is a challenge for me on this upcoming trip because while my overseas flight to China allows my luggage to weigh up to 50 pounds, we’re taking several flights within the country that restrict our luggage weight even more… So, always check with your airlines before leaving for your trip to make sure your luggage complies with the guidelines!

(Bonus tip: It’s always a smart idea to bring a luggage scale with you to check the weight of your suitcase! Amazon has them for cheap…)

Another challenge of packing for overseas travel is the organization of your suitcase. Sometimes it’s challenging to fit everything you need in a suitcase, so for this trip especially I’ve found that this tip has really come in handy!

2. Use packing cubes to create more space in your suitcase and better organize your clothes.

Using packing cubes has helped me not only create more space in my luggage, but I also feel a lot more organized because I packed all my clothes in the order I plan on wearing them, so my clothes should be easy to get to each day!

If you have plans for the day your flight arrives it’s sometimes difficult to look your best after being on such a long flight, so my biggest suggestion to help with this is…

3. Pack a change of clothes in your carry-on for when you arrive at your destination.

I’ve found that this tip comes in handy because I can wear very comfortable clothes on my flight and when I arrive at my destination it’s easy to freshen up and change into something cuter before leaving the airport!

I did this last year on my trip to the Mediterranean when we arrived in Barcelona and I was so glad I did because then I felt ready for a day of exploring the city!

One of the most important things to me while on an overseas flight is comfort, so packing your backpack or purse is extremely important! There are many items I would suggest for packing in your personal item, but this would be my biggest tip…

4. Pack makeup wipes and your makeup in your backpack/purse (as long as none of the products are liquids more than 3oz).

This tip is especially important if you plan on sleeping during your flight. I’ve found that when I don’t take my makeup off for the flight my face is prone to more breakouts than usual and I don’t feel as comfortable. Also, you’ll want to apply a fresh face of makeup for when you land anyways, so taking off your makeup for the majority of the flight will allow you to be more comfortable.

5. Make sure you have luggage tags on all your bags.

Losing luggage is one of the biggest fears while traveling… so, my biggest suggestion is to buy luggage tags for all of your bags. If you do happen to forget to purchase them, the airport should have paper ones to fill out, so make sure you do that!

But… I would recommend buying nicer luggage tags so they hold up better (& they’re also MUCH cuter!!) We got these adorable luggage tags from Amazon…

These are just a few packing tips, but I think they’re all very important reminders, especially for traveling overseas! I hope these tips help you as much as they’ve helped me while packing!
