Adventures by Disney: Chengdu

The next stop on our Adventures by Disney China trip was the beautiful city of Chengdu! There were so many fun things to do in this city so I’m so glad we were able to stop here for a few days!

Arriving to Chengdu

While we were in Chengdu we stayed at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton! Ritz-Carlton is one of my favorite luxury hotel chains and the location in Chengdu was extremely nice and in my opinion the perfect place to stay in this city!

We enjoyed a buffet-style breakfast in the hotel for the two mornings we were in Chengdu and it was incredible! There were endless options of both Chinese and Western breakfast foods as well as several different teas to try!

Lunch at the Ritz Carlton

Upon arriving, we were greeted with a delicious dim-sum lunch at the hotel! Like most meals on this trip, it was served family style and we enjoyed a wide variety of delicious local foods!

The view from our room was stunning and every view of this city was so gorgeous!

Relaxing Time in the Park

We spent the afternoon walking in a park that led us to an outdoor tea house in the heart of this park! We spent some time relaxing and enjoying traditional tea from the area.

While we were there, there was also a man creating sugar designs! They were so intricate and absolutely beautiful! There was a little wheel that you could spin and whichever design it landed on, he would create for you!

We got a bird, a butterfly, and the coolest one of all… the dragon!

They were all so pretty and actually tasted so good and sweet!!

Tai Chi

We ended our time in the park by learning Tai Chi from a local master! Our group had the best time!! We finished out the afternoon by getting our pin of the day!

Sichuan Hot Pot Dinner

Next, we made our way to a Sichuan Hot Pot restaurant for dinner! It was so interesting to try this kind of food… You can choose what kind of stock you want to use to cook all of your meats and vegetables in and then you prepare everything in front of you for yourself!

Sichuan Opera

After dinner we went to watch a traditional Sichuan Opera!

The opera house was so gorgeous and the details inside were incredible! We enjoyed some more traditional tea during the show and they gave us fans to use while we watched since the theater was outside!

There were so many different acts during the opera, but the most impressive was definitely the face-changing act that is a traditional Chinese act!

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

The next day we made our way to one of my favorite stops of the whole trip: the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding!

There were so many fun things to see and learn here! Pandas are one of my favorite animals so being able to see them and learn so many interesting facts about them was so much fun!

The giant pandas were sooooo adorable!! We spent so much time just sitting and watching them eat their bamboo, which was the cutest thing ever!

We also got to see some young pandas as well as newborn pandas, which was so sweet to see!

We also bought a cute stuffed animal panda and the money goes towards the research center and giant panda conservation. We had the best time at the research center!

Lunch

For lunch we went to a restaurant inside a nearby mall that was a delicious family-style traditional Chinese meal!

Exploring the City

After coming back from lunch, we spent the rest of the rest of the evening exploring the city near our hotel!

We found several shops and I bought a lot of cute clothes from a store called Urban Revivo! I really wish we had this store in the US because they had the cutest stuff!

We also found this cute little juice place where we tried a lemon ginger drink and a watermelon drink!

Chengdu was such a fun and unique city with so many fun activities! I absolutely loved seeing the city, experiencing the Sichuan opera, and especially the Panda Research Center!
