Day 2 in Beijing was one of my favorite days of the whole trip! We saw more of the city of Beijing on the Hutong Pedicab Tour, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and most importantly, saw the breathtaking Great Wall of China! It was truly a day I’ll never forget!
Hutong Pedicab Tour
We began our second day in Beijing by taking the Hutong Pedicab Tour! We were able to see the Hutong neighborhoods in such a fun way! It was such a unique experience and an incredible way to experience Beijing!
We came to a stop in the neighborhood where we learned traditional crafts of knot-tying, calligraphy, and paper-cutting. It was super interesting and so much fun!
Lunch
Next, we made our way to the Schoolhouse in Mutianyu where we enjoyed lunch before our big adventure at the Great Wall!
We had pre-ordered our lunch at the beginning of our trip and the menu at the Schoolhouse was much like our food at home in the United States. I had spaghetti for my main course!
The Great Wall of China
After lunch we finally made our way to my favorite part of the Adventures by Disney trip… the Great Wall!
We were at the Mutianyu Great Wall, where before going up to the Wall itself we had some time to do a little shopping for souvenirs! We bought some beautiful fans with designs on them as well as a pretty red umbrella that was perfect in pictures!
Also, we were so surprised to see NBA players Joel Embiid and Mo Bamba before going up to the Wall! They were there to visit the Great Wall as well, so it was so crazy that we just so happened to see them!
Next, we finally made our way up to the Great Wall! The ride up in the gondola was absolutely gorgeous and the view only got better as we continued to ascend up to the Wall!
Even the climb up to the Wall from the gondola ride was absolutely beautiful, especially with the stone railings! The rock above was a welcome to the Wall in many different languages, which I loved!
Everywhere you turn, the views from the Great Wall were absolutely breathtaking! Just standing on the Wall and admiring the beauty of my surroundings was truly one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. The feeling truly leaves you speechless! It’s so hard to find the words to describe this experience and the photos certainly do not do it justice, although it still looks magnificent!
Picture Perfect!
The Great Wall was certainly my favorite place to take photos during this trip! I was so happy with the way they all turned out, but you can’t expect anything less from one of the most beautiful places in the world!
The fan in the picture above is one that we bought right before we made our journey up the Great Wall! I’m so glad we ended up buying a few souvenirs because they truly made our pictures even more unique!
This little alcove in one of the watchtowers was one of my favorite places to take photos because you could still see the scenery as well as the Wall in the background! It was absolutely gorgeous!
My other favorite photos I took were the pictures with the red umbrella we also bought at the Wall! It was absolutely perfect because it matched my outfit and gave the photos extra character!
Everywhere on the Wall was an incredible place to take photos, but my favorite part was that there was so much of the Wall to explore that you are able to take photos with no people in the background! This is so rare for famous monuments around the world, so I definitely took advantage of this photo opportunity!
An Experience to Remember…
We received our Disney pin for the day, which was very fitting… Mulan! This day is definitely one that I will never forget! It was truly a magical experience to visit the Great Wall of China and certainly something I would love to do again in the future!
