Our Adventures by Disney China trip continued by visiting the Terracotta Soldiers in Xi’an and making our way to the beautiful Gumdrop Mountains of Guilin!
Tea Tasting in Xi’an
We had an early flight from Beijing to Xi’an and once we arrived we enjoyed tea tasting at a restaurant in Xi’an! I personally love tea, so this was especially a treat for me! It was so interesting to see how they make all the different teas and also get to taste them!
Terracotta Soldiers
After lunch and tea tasting we visited the amazing Terracotta Soldiers! We learned a lot about the history of the soldiers and had plenty of free time to explore the museum on our own.
It was so interesting to learn about the soldiers and admire the detail of them all! I found it so impressive that every soldier is completely unique in its own way. It was also so crazy to see how well they have been preserved!
The museum was quite crowded, but that was not surprising to me considering how famous these soldiers are!
After spending some time at the museum we made our way back to the airport to fly to Guilin. Before boarding our flight, we enjoyed dinner at the Regal Airport Hotel, where I tried sushi for the first time!
Flying to Xi’an and Guilin in one day was a whirlwind, but I’m so thankful we did it!
The Shangri-La Hotel, Guilin
We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel while visiting Guilin. Personally, this was my least favorite hotel of the trip, but it was certainly the nicest hotel in Guilin, so I’m still very thankful we got to stay there!
Although the room was not as luxurious as the other hotels we stayed at during the trip, the view was gorgeous!
The next morning we enjoyed a buffet-style breakfast before leaving for our day on the Li River!
Li River Boat Tour
The Lijang River Boat Tour was definitely one of my favorite experiences from the trip! (I feel like I say that a lot, but I promise it’s true!!) The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking and the entire day was filled with fun adventures!
After boarding the boat and finding a place to sit, they offered us tea as a welcome. We were given boxed lunches for the day to eat at any point during our boat tour. They of course were not the most delicious, but I wasn’t concerned about that considering the views surrounding me!
Our group also wanted to try some of the snacks offered onboard, such as full crabs! I wasn’t brave enough to try those, but I did try the shrimp!
Everywhere you turn during this voyage, you’re simply blown away by the wonder and beauty of the landscape. The Gumdrop Mountains are truly so unique; I could never get tired of these views!
We even saw the exact spot that is on the 20 Yuan bill! It was such a cool moment!
This is by far one of my favorite photos from the river tour… it’s absolutely gorgeous!
The boat was another one of my favorite photo spots during the trip! Much like the Great Wall of China, it’s almost impossible to take a bad picture considering the beauty of your surroundings! (the only bad part was the wind, but it just adds a little extra volume to your hair, so I can’t complain haha!)
Shopping in Yangshuo
After the river tour, we had time to do some shopping at the markets in Yangshuo. We were given 20 Yuan to use to buy a gift for a white elephant gift exchange that night at the hotel! It was a lot of fun to try to bargain for items, even though I was definitely not the best at it… I ended up finding a bracelet that I paid 20 Yuan for, so let’s just say I didn’t get the best deal lol.
We ended the night with a BBQ Dinner at the Shangri-La and had the best time doing our white elephant gift exchange as a group!
Experiencing Xi’an and Guilin were two extremely unique experiences that I absolutely adored!
